Summer Hoops in C'dale, IL
|
Troy Hudson shots a three on Shaq during the 2003 Playoffs. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Troy Hudson came to an agreement to a multi-year contract worth million over 6 years, which will keep him in Minnesota where he said he wanted to be. Congratulation Troy from the whole Carbondale Community.

Troy Hudson Minnesota Timberwolves NBA All-star 5th Annual 5 on 5 Basketball Tournament was a huge success this year in Carbondale, IL. The 2005 June Tournament was an event to remember. This years Scholarship Celeberty Game with NBA Star Troy Hudson, Former Carbondale High School Players, and Former SIU Players packed the Carbondale High School gym to almost 1500 full capacity. The Dunk contest was certainly one of the high lights of the night. The Car and Motorcycle Show/Parade drew the community out for a great time. There were nearly 600 people at the show., & The Second Free Concert at Attucks Community Park was awesome. There were about 1000 people at the concert. A local group called Kinfolk performed, Troy and the Nuttyboyz family performed, and the Clips ended the concert with a bang. Next Year is Going to be Bigger and Better with 3 more events added to the tournament. So Come On Out and Let's Make Next Years Tournament Another Huge Success. I would like to thank the whole community, the businesses who donated, the teams and players who competed in the tournament, and especially Troy for making this tournament an event thats being talked about all across the State. Everyone should be proud for making this event a great time for every one.
Rashad Tucker International Perth Wildcat All-star 3rd Annual 5 on 5 Basketball Tournament in Carbondale Illinois is getting ready to kick off this year and it should be a blast. CARBONDALE TALK
There was no love lost Saturday during the championship round of the Troy Hudson 5-on-5 basketball tournament that took place June 16-19, 2005 at Attucks Park. There were 40 teams this year the most the tournament has ever had.
The temperatures rose along with the intensity level with bragging rights on the line for the last day of the tournament."It gets intense because nobody wants to lose," Walter Davis said. "(A team) gets that first loss and they don't want to get that second loss. So everybody is just fighting to win." "Street ball is a whole new level. It is for bragging rights. It is for pride, you know, whose neighborhood or town is better. People want other people to know that there neighborhood produces the best teams and best players."
I'm already for next year to see who is going to steal those bragging rights from Rise n Fly

The 18-and-over division saw Carbondale's team, Rise-n-Fly, crowned champions after a one point win.

MY DREAM
Having lived in the town of Carbondale, IL almost my whole life (28 years) and having grown up watching all the different basketball players play for Carbondale, supporting the Carbondale basketball teams such as the High School Terriers and Southern Illinois University Salukies, and also coaching my own AAU team, I decided to help organize and coordinate AAU basketball tournaments and tournaments for former players who have made Carbondale a spot on the map and the place to be in the summer. These tournaments and players mean a lot to the community and a lot to the next generation who are coming behind them trying to fill their shoes. I wanted to place information on the web and put news up on the Internet for community members and national cities to see how individuals from our community have made it big and not forgotten where they came from. Its always good to see natives from their home town come home and give back to their community. Seeing the success of these tournaments and the children's faces as they meet these players and play in these tournaments, is a Dream come True for me.
